Some items are regulated by Ohio EPA, the federal EPA, or just plain dangerous to put in a regular dumpster. We won't take these, but we'll tell you exactly where to send them so the job still gets done.
Hazardous chemicals
Pesticides, herbicides, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, propane tanks, pool chemicals, ammunition, fireworks, asbestos, lead paint.
Where instead: Summit/Portage County residents: Summit ReWorks Household Hazardous Waste collection events (free, several per year — see summitreworks.com). For asbestos, hire a licensed abatement contractor — never DIY.
Wet paint and solvents
Liquid paint, stains, varnishes, paint thinner. (Empty cans with hardened paint are fine — see above.)
Where instead: Dry it out first. Mix paint with kitty litter or sawdust, leave the lid off until hard, then we can take it. Or drop at a PaintCare collection site (paintcare.org/locator).
Hot tub shells
Acrylic/fiberglass hot tub shells. We paused this service to focus on faster same-day capacity for other jobs.
Where instead: For now, we recommend asking your local hauler about hot tub-specific services. We plan to reintroduce hot tub removal — check back later in the year.
Biohazard and medical waste
Needles/sharps, blood-contaminated items, prescription medication (large quantities).
Where instead: Prescription drug take-back: Streetsboro Police Department drop-box. Sharps containers: most pharmacies sell them; check Stericycle for pickup.
Tires
Car, truck, and tractor tires — Ohio EPA disposal rules require routing through certified tire processors, and our regular landfill won't take them.
Where instead: Most NE Ohio tire shops (Discount Tire, Tire Discounters, Goodyear) accept old tires for a small fee ($3–5/tire) when you buy new ones.
Large freon-containing commercial units
We take residential refrigerators, freezers, and window AC units. We do NOT take commercial walk-in coolers or large rooftop HVAC units.
Where instead: Hire a licensed HVAC contractor for commercial-scale refrigerant recovery.
