Why I Started NextGenJunkRemoval
I'm Matthew Burks, founder of NextGenJunkRemoval. Growing up, I kept seeing the same thing across the junk removal and hauling industry: missed appointments, no-shows, and crews that treated customers like an afterthought. It's a service most people would rather not think about, and I believed it deserved far better.
I've been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember, and I went on to study entrepreneurship at Ohio University. When it came time to build something of my own, I chose the industry everyone else had given up on. The goal was simple: bring real professionalism, reliability, and genuine care to a service families actually need.
That's how NextGenJunkRemoval was born, and it's why every job we take on is held to a higher standard.
What a NextGen Job Actually Looks Like
One of the first jobs that told me we were doing this right was a basement in Cuyahoga Falls. A widow was downsizing after 40 years in the house, and the basement had become four decades of storage: a water-warped sleeper sofa nobody could get back up the stairs, a dead treadmill, boxes that had gone soft from an old sump pump failure, and a workbench her late husband built by hand. She told me three other companies had quoted her over the phone and then either no-showed or tried to renegotiate the price once they saw the stairs.
We carried every piece up a narrow stairwell by hand, set aside a box of photographs and a toolbox she wanted to keep, and swept the floor before we left. The sofa frame and the treadmill's steel went to a scrap yard. The handmade workbench was still solid, so it went to Habitat ReStore Kent. She liked the idea that someone else would build on it. What was genuinely trash went to the Kimble transfer station in Twinsburg, then on to the Carbon Limestone Landfill. The whole basement was done in an afternoon, at the price we quoted on arrival. That's the standard for every job since.
It also shapes how we handle the stuff most haulers just dump. Usable furniture and appliances route to ReStore Kent or the RET3 electronics recycler in Cleveland for anything with a circuit board. Working clothes and housewares head to Habitat ReStore and local shelters. We tell you where your load went, whether donated, recycled, or disposed, because pretending everything gets recycled is exactly the kind of thing that made people stop trusting this industry in the first place. We run a dump-bed truck built for real volume, with moving blankets, straps, dollies, and floor protection on board for every job. An old fridge comes out of the basement without a single scuff on your stairwell or your hardwood. We bring the muscle and the equipment to you, which means no dumpster sitting in your driveway for a week and no truck rental for you to drive and return. You point at what's going; we lift it, load it, and sweep up behind us.
Because we're owner-operated, the person who quotes your job is the person who shows up to do it. There's no call center, no bait-and-switch between the phone estimate and the crew at your door, and no rotating cast of subcontractors. You get one local business that answers its own phone, stands behind its own pricing, and treats your home the way we'd want ours treated.
